Our East Gallery features a changing programme of fascinating exhibitions each year. Our latest exhibition, "Our duty to bear - The First World War and Caerphilly County Borough" commemorates the centenary of the start of WW1 and explores the effect the war had on local people. The exhibition features a powerful collection of loans from the local and wider community, original film footage and a remarkable reconstruction of a WW1 trench.

Victorian Winding Engine
Built on the site of the former Elliot Colliery, the museum's centre-piece is the original Victorian winding engine, which runs on specific days throughout the year. Discover more about the history of coal mining in the local area in the new engine house interpretation.
