CCBC Christmas Window Dressing Competition 2024 – Blackwood

Read time: 2m

Congratulations to Kismet Blackwood who were recently crowned the winners of the Blackwood Christmas Window Dressing Competition 2024!

Judges were impressed with the eye-catching displays across multiple windows in the shop, which included a wintry Christmas setting (complete with disco ball) and the upstairs tea room window displaying a tree with Christmas baubles and lights.

Kismet Blackwood have been trading for 20 years this year and are a proud family-run business.  They are located in the Pier Buildings between the High Street and Hall Street.  Sue Jenkins is the original owner of the business and has since retired but still has a lot to do with the shop, including decorating the windows.  Sara Lewis has taken over the running of the shop from her mum Sue and takes inspiration from her love of creativity throughout the shop.

Through the past 20 years, Kismet have experienced ups and downs, a recession, the pandemic and a cost-of-living crisis.  They are always trying to change to keep the business going, like they did in 2012 by opening the tearoom upstairs which sells delicious cakes and coffee.   In recent years they have introduced their website to the shop, giving customers a chance to browse the stock for gift ideas.  This came in especially handy when they were unable to trade during the pandemic, giving local customers a chance to purchase through click and collect.

When informed that Kismet had been selected as the Blackwood winner, Sara said “Thank you so much for appreciating our windows, we are over the moon!  We would also like to thank our customers for their ongoing support as we wouldn’t be here without them”.
